The Huaxia Village Tourism Scenic Area receives millions of visitors every year. The project was entirely locally driven and managed—no international consultants or resources were used. The residents of Weihai and the surrounding villages continue to grow and prosper as the Huaxia Village Tourism Scenic Area strives to develop new recreational opportunities and preserve the environment.
Over the last five years, the income of the collective village economy has grown by almost 15% per year in 13 villages around Weihai. This project and related efforts have led to the employment of thousands of villagers. Through entrepreneurial vision, action and inspiration, a transformative and positive impact on both the community and the environment was achieved.
