Cultural Valley

Cultural Valley is a unique pathway through a small canyon carved out of a quarry pit within the former mining site.  This scenic passageway is an important part of the ecological restoration project above Weihai.  A curated selection of important works from calligraphers of various Chinese dynasties are displayed on both sides of the rock walls—carved as vigorous and powerful, or round and smooth, or elegant and understated, or strict and beautiful—showcasing the breadth and profoundness of Chinese calligraphy. 

Forest

Forest – There are more than 11.38 million trees consisting of over 200 different species, countless varieties of flowers, shrubs, bushes and other plants on 2,442 hectares (6,036 acres) of environmentally restored land. It is home to many forms of wildlife including animals, birds and fish.

Water Features

There are 35 lakes and ponds of various sizes located throughout the Huaxia Scenic Area as well as many beautiful streams and brooks.  There are also tranquil waterfalls to enjoy. Spending time in natural environments like waterfalls has a unique impact on mood and happiness.

Trails

here are over 5 kilometers of walking trails and hiking trails throughout the Huaxia Scenic Area to explore and enjoy. It is a great way to be outdoors, enjoy nature, exercise and breathe fresh air generated from the over 11.38 million trees that cover the area.

Wildlife

Many animals live in this natural habitat including wild hares, goats, donkeys, roe deer, wild boar, badgers, foxes, civet cats, sheep, tortoises, freshwater turtles, field and harvest mice and squirrels among others.  A variety of birds have made the local environment home including various species of ducks, swans, storks, egrets, dollar birds, oriental magpies, pheasants, swallows, large owls and wild chickens.  Depending on the season, many different kinds of migratory birds can also be seen.
